Hello! I am césimonis
I write and illustrate stories.
I’m Belgian and Scottish and I currently live in the woods of the south of Belgium where I share a riso studio with C.A.Hiley
My work has received several prizes and awards. My graphic short story 'The Return' was shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards 2021 and my book ‘My Brass Band’ has been highly commended the 2022 edition. I was artist in residence in Oksnes in the Vesteraalen archipelago in Norway with AiRV in 2022, and at Inspace (Edinburgh) in 2020 and Planet Labs (Berlin) in 2021 for art+science residencies.
I love making my own books on the riso machine: I make graphic poetry and short illustrated stories from beginning to end in my studio.
I also like working with gouache and writing longer poetic-epics! My work is always hand drawn.
When I’m not drawing, I love walking in the forest, swimming and making up silly songs.
I have taught illustration in places such as Edinburgh College of Art and the National Museum of Scotland.
